Amanda Sillars is an expert in a form of child psychological manipulation, which she refers to as survival-based rejection, along with complex family and relationship dynamics. She provides counselling, psychoeducation, and consultancy for individuals and families affected by coercion, control, and fractured relationships. Her work helps people understand how manipulation and fear can distort attachment, influence behaviour, and damage trust, and how safety, recovery, or reconnection can be achieved when the right conditions are in place.
Her lived experience spans generations, alienated from her mother as a child and later from her own children in adulthood. These experiences, including profound loss and eventual reunification, have shaped her lifelong commitment to helping families heal through knowledge, insight, and compassion.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science from Griffith University, and is completing a Bachelor of Counselling. She grounds her work in trauma-informed, attachment-based, and evidence-led practice. In addition to her clinical and educational work with families, Amanda consults to practitioners across law, psychology, counselling, and social work, providing insight into the psychological mechanisms of coercive influence, child manipulation, and relational trauma.
